Earnings include your compensation and reserve. Taxes are not included. A viable price also depends on buyer value, demand, and the scope of your offer.

How the calculation works

Starting price = (hours × compensation per hour + direct costs + overhead + reserve + fixed payment fee) ÷ (1 − percentage fee ÷ 100)

For example: 2 hours × $25, plus $8 in expenses and a $7 reserve, with a hypothetical 3% fee and no fixed charge, gives $67.02 when rounded up to cover the plan. Use your provider's actual fees.

Effective hourly earnings = (price − payment fees − direct costs − overhead) ÷ hours. With zero hours, this measure is not applicable.

Before you choose a price

  1. Time a sample delivery, including messages and revisions.
  2. Compare offers with similar scope and customer value.
  3. Check your actual costs after the first few orders.
